Newcastle United were not the only Premier League side chasing the signature of Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen last month – according to the player’s agent.
The Magpies had two bids – the final one at £15million – turned down by the Dutch club, who had an asking price of £20million for the forward but Jorgensen’s agent claims there was more than one admirer from England’s top flight.
While Mikkel Nissen doesn’t name the other interested parties, he does label United ‘the most daring’ of those clubs offering to take Jorgensen.
Speaking to Danish media outlet, Ekstra Bladet, Nissen said: “I can confirm that Newcastle specifically wanted to have him and did a lot to make it successful.
“There were also other Premier League clubs in play, but Newcastle was the most daring.”
Jorgensen, who has scored nine goals this campaign, has hinted that he may leave the Dutch side in the summer – something confirmed by his agent
